The national Under-23 soccer team is counting on the match commissioner to recommend a replay of their abandoned 2008 Olympic Games' qualifier against Guinea-Conakry.

The game was abandoned 13 minutes before time on Friday night with Guinea leading 2-0. The move became necessary because Botswana had only six players on the field.
Reports say four of the Young Zebras' players were knocked out of the game after serious injuries caused by rough tackles from their Guinean opponents. A fifth player, defender Bonifance 'Zolo' Makolo left the field after a red card.

The players who had to retire early because of injury were captain Musa 'Lipa' Ohilwe; strikers Tebogo Sembowa and Kaone Molefe; defenders Gabriel Bokhutlo, Mosimanegape 'Twizer' Ramohibidu and Thebe Maiketso; had to be ferried to hospital after some cruel challenges. Ohilwe and Ramohibidu were ferried to hospital after some cruel challenges.
It was a disastrous end to an ill-fated trip that nearly aborted after the Young Zebras got stranded in Gaborone and Johannesburg because of blunders by the Botswana Football Association (BFA).
