I did not expect anything-Makwala

Former 400m African record holder, Isaac Makwala says he was not surprised to emerge from last weekend’s Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) awards empty handed.

Makwala was tipped to clinch the sportsman of the year award and ultimately grab the sportsperson of the year gong, but was pipped by boxer, Zibani Chikanda and then Karabo Sibanda who scooped the big prize.

“I am just ok about the awards. I was not expecting anything regarding the award because I long saw it coming. It was obvious on my side,” said Makwala who is in Durban for the Africa Senior Championships.
