First Division South secretary quits

Controversy surrounds the resignation of the First Division South League secretary, Raj Rathedi who has indicated he will quit tomorrow. By yesterday, the league chairman, Tariq Babitseng said he has not received any formal communication on the resignation and as far as he is concerned, Rathedi is going nowhere.

Apparently, Rathedi sent his boss and other committee members a text message saying he was leaving. "I cannot go and hunt for another secretary based on a text message. If at all he is leaving, he would have communicated properly. So when I saw the SMS on Sunday, I never really took it seriously. It could be one of those things where someone is just having mixed feelings and the following day, he comes to you to say I have reconsidered (my decision)," Babitseng said. Rathedi's message, which was also sent to Mmegi Sport reads: "This serves to inform you that for private reasons this Friday will be my last day at the First Division South League. For any information on the league as from Friday please contact other members of the league committee".

Babitseng said he did not phone Rathedi after receiving the message as he felt it was not necessary because he believed his secretary would contact him and explain the SMS. "Look I still firmly believe that Raj is not going anywhere because we have been working fine and he has not raised any issue with me that any of the committee members or the teams is giving him a hard time," Babitseng said.  The resignation of Rathedi is said to due poor working relations with the committee.  Jacob Tshube of Young Strikers said Rathedi was unhappy with lack of consultation on some issues and that he is not surprised that he decided to quit. He said that after receiving the message from Rathedi, he contacted him and he was very emotional.
