FRANCISTOWN: Diphatsa continued to defy odds in the ongoing men Mascom Volleyball League after they beat Mafolofolo 3-1 last Saturday afternoon at BDF Area S Courts. Though Diphatsa is one of the many sporting clubs in different disciplines recently dumped by their sponsor, the Botswana Defence Force (BDF) in a cost-cutting exercise, it has maintained a 100 percent record in the league after five rounds. It leads the competition at the expense of financially well-endowed sides.

Against the visiting Mafolofolo on Saturday, Diphatsa showed their mettle early. They won the first set 25-12 but met stiff resistance from their opponents in the second set that lasted 54 minutes.

After a poor first set, Mafolofolo setter, Letso Galeromelwe overhauled her act in the second and led her teammates gallantly to a 25-23 win against Diphatsa. Mafolofolo players produced a spectacular performance in the dying minutes of the second set with the combination of Moabinyana Koko and Maatla Mogapi in blocking and spiking proving crucial. After the win, jubilant Mafolofolo supporters were in full cry, urging their heroes to go for the kill and pull a surprise. “You can win. It is easy to match these boys,” shouted one of Mafolofolo supporters.
