COSAFA Senior Challenge to be held in SA?

The COSAFA Senior Challenge, which Botswana was supposed to host, will be held in a different country later this year. The country is believed to be South Africa.

In a press statement, COSAFA confirmed the cancellation of the 2014 COSAFA Cup, which was due to be hosted by Botswana in September 13-28 but further said it had secured a sponsor to hold the event elsewhere.  COSAFA remains hopeful of staging the tournament in a new host country in November/December this year, and plans to make a further announcement by the end of the week.

“Due to financial and logistical constraints, the COSAFA Cup, which was due to be played in Botswana in September 2014, has had to be cancelled,” said COSAFA President Suketu Patel. “COSAFA is very grateful to the Botswana Football Association, and in particular to President Tebogo Sebego, for the huge efforts made to actualise this tournament.
