Commonwealth Games baton arrives today

The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Queen's Baton relay reaches Gaborone this afternoon from Namibia.

 

Vice President Ponatshego Kedikilwe is scheduled to welcome the baton delegation expected to land at the Sir Seretse Khama Airport at 12.45pm. Botswana is the 34th   country that the baton passes through out the 71 Commonwealth destinations that it will visit. According to Botswana National Olympics Committee (BNOC) marketing and communications manager Mpho Motlhabani, the relay will continue on Friday taking off from the Three Dikgosi Monument in the Central Business District (CBD). Former and current athletes will carry the baton that will pass through mostly schools to inspire students to take part in sport.
