The Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) has decided not to include juniors in the national team that departed yesterday for the Commonwealth Karate Championships in Sydney, Australia.

Speaking during a press briefing in Gaborone on Tuesday BOKA vice president, David Mathe said the senior men and women's teams was preferred in order to give the karatekas good preparation for the All-Africa Games (AAG).

He explained that the Commonwealth Championships that kick-off this week will give the senior sides adequate competition ahead of the AAG in Mozambique in September. He said BOKA takes the AAG seriously and wants the teams to compete effectively. The Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) treasurer, Boitshoko Tsiane urged the karatekas to do their best in Australia. He said considering their good performances in the past, he trusts that they will do well.
