Boardroom squabbles rock basketball

The Botswana Basketball Association (BAA) president, Boineelo Hardy finds herself at the centre of the storm as boardroom squabbles have seen a number of top officials quit the executive committee.

Hardy’s appointment in 2016 was seen as a breath of life into the sport but two years in, the 36-year-old has been blamed for the problems. Trouble started brewing following basketball’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in March this year.

According to sources the BAA, an AGM is supposed to be held, at the latest, in December of each year. Two weeks before the meeting, an audited financial report should be dispatched to members, which they will accept or reject at the AGM.
