BCA clinches sponsorship deal for 50 overs tourney

The Botswana Cricket Association (BCA) has secured sponsorship for the upcoming 50 overs tournament starting early next month.

The tournament was initially scheduled to start in June, but was pushed back to the beginning of August.  BCA fixtures and publicity secretary, Sumod Damodar told Mmegi Sport that six companies have agreed to sponsor teams taking part in the tournament. “At the moment, we have six companies that have agreed to sponsor the teams and we are in talks with two more,” he explained. Samsung Galaxy, Security Services, Minjex, Moods, Maazars and Mall Motors have already agreed to finance the tournament. Damodar said that the participating teams will be named after the companies that sponsor them.

The companies will be given the liberty to choose the teams that they want to sponsor. “At the moment, Samsung Galaxy is the only company that has chosen a team. They have chosen the Under-19 team that they will be named the Galaxy Stars,” he said.  Meanwhile, the girls’ Under-19 team is preparing for the upcoming Four-Nations tournament in Gaborone next month.
