Peepa is not abusing Mabijo-Motswetla

First of all, I would like to thank Z. Judge for the complementary comment about the cartoon character, Mabijo, I have created. As an artist, I would like to assure Z. Judge and the Mmegi readership that I have chosen to collaborate with PEEPA by mounting a public education campaign on a public policy issue of privatisation. This is not the first time I embark on such projects.
In the past, Mabijo was used to educate and sensitise the members of public on issues such as Population and Housing Census, livestock / Crop Productions, etc. The decision was made purely on my conviction that Mabijo, as a nationally recognized and loved cartoon character, can be of benefit in raising awareness on public policy issues to enhance national debate.
This call is both timely and crucial, as it reflects a growing need for unity and collaboration amongst media bodies to address pressing issues facing the nation.The theme of this year’s Press Freedom Day, “A Press for the Planet: Journalism in the Face of the Environmental Crisis,” resonates deeply with Batswana, particularly in light of the ongoing human and wildlife conflict.
