BOSETU's response to BTU statement

This is a response to an article which appeared in the Mmegi edition of 5th July 2007 headlined "BTU bays for Education Officers heads" and the utterances made during BTV 7 o'clock and 9 o'clock news bulletins (05/07/07) by the Botswana Teachers Union, Publicity Secretary to the effect that BTU has no place for boys and girls.

In the said article the BTU leadership creates the impression that it is the only Teacher Organization fighting the case of 14 school heads who have been threatened with dismissal by Teaching Service Management. A closer reading of the article in question suggest that Botswana Secondary School Teachers Union (BOSETU) is indifferent to the plight of the affected school heads.

Infact it was BOSETU that rounded up all school heads and invited other teacher organizations. BTU and BOSETU have agreed to share the cost unless BTU has reneged on this agreement and want to go it alone.  Secondly the utterances made by the BTU Publicity Secretary carry some negative connotations which cast serious aspersions on the credibility of other teacher Organizations.
