Zim woman arrested for concealing birth

FRANCISTOWN: A Zimbabwean woman appeared before the magistrate yesterday, on a single count of concealing birth.

The suspect, Shylet Muzenda, 28, is alleged to have committed the offence on April 3, 2013 at Monarch location.

The state alleges that Muzenda, who was reportedly four months pregnant at the time, induced birth and delivered the child before secretly disposing of the foetus in a pit latrine. Prosecutor Mengistu Chigala told Magistrate Onneile Ntwayapelo that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
