After spending almost nine months in custody facing a murder charge, Aplee Moagi, 31, has been granted bail by the Extension II Magistrate’s Court.

Moagi is alleged to have raped and killed a nine-year-old girl, who was the daughter of his former girlfriend, at White City in Gaborone.  Ever since his arrest members of the public using different social media platforms have been threatening to take the law into their hands should Moagi be granted bail.

Appearing before Extension II chief magistrate Batho Kgerethwa for mention, Moagi told the court that he has submitted the name of the person who has agreed to stay with him, hence he did not know what was delaying his release from custody.
