FRANCISTOWN: At least two activists have reportedly declared their desire to challenge for the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) primaries at Kalakamati ward. The ward became vacant following the passing of BDP councillor, Israel Samu (64) earlier this month.

Although the party is yet to invite candidates for the primaries, Herbert Mathumo and Jones Dubani have reportedly shared their wish to contest the seat to fellow members.

Both men have contested the BDP primaries before. Dubani contested the primaries ahead of the 2009 and 2014 general elections, losing to Samu on both occasions.
