Presidential hopeful Tshekedi Khama and the party’s secretary general Botsalo Ntuane were among the notable absentees when the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) chairman, the Vice President Mokgweetsi Masisi and the party president and state President, Ian Khama led the mother of all victory celebrations in Moshupa on Saturday, where the area MP is both the party chairman and the Vice President of the country.

Ntuane and Tshekedi are known to be rivalling Masisi, with Tshekedi recently making his presidential ambitions public on Duma FM, while the secretary general did not endorse Masisi for the chairmanship during the run-up to the Mmadinare Congress last year.

Interestingly, another presidential hopeful, Selebi-Phikwe MP Nonofo Molefhi, whom Masisi recently praised via a weekend publication, was present at the victory celebrations along with his constituency delegation. Boteti MP and local government minister Slumber Tsogwane announced all the Ministers and MPs present for the occasion, among them Bobonong MP, who is also justice, defence and security Minister, Shaw Kgathi.
