Teen defilement suspect hangs inside a police cell

PALAPYE: A 17-year-old man of Khwee village near Lethakane who was charged with defiling a 14-year-old girl of the same village allegedly hanged himself with a bound edge of blanket inside a police cell recently.

The young girl was a Standard Three pupil at Khwee Primary School. The suspect purportedly took the girl with him to a certain farm near Khwee where he was employed as a farm hand and sexually abused her. 

The suspect brought the girl back to the village after three days at the farm. When the young girl arrived at her parents’ homestead at dusk and after learning of the details of her disappearance, the parents reported the matter to the police.
