Student, 15, dies after being hit by car

A Form Three student from Marulamantsi Junior Secondary School was killed on Friday morning after he was hit by a car while attempting to cross the road.

The accident was reported at around 6:25am along KT Motsepe Road popularly known as Western by-pass. The 47-year-old woman who was the driver of the Polo VW that hit the deceased was driving alone and the boy was crossing the road from west to east.

Deputy Divisional Traffic Officer for South-Central, Senior Superintendent Boiki Mojalemotho said the student who had sustained head injuries was certified dead on arrival at the Julia Molefe Clinic by doctors. Mojalemotho stated that the driver was tested and she was sober but investigations into the matter are ongoing and is likely to be charged with causing death with dangerous driving.
