Those who accuse President Ian Khama of failing to take care of his allies should eat humble pie. Trusted lieutenants Jacob Nkate, Neo Moroka and Kavis Kario have been rewarded with lucrative positions, after they came unstuck in the last general elections.

The list will now be complete with former cabinet minister and Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) central committee member Tebelelo Seretse said to be on course to take up the prestigious post of Botswana's envoy in the United States of America (USA) either in December or in the new year. Though Mmegi is reliably informed that Seretse is headed to the USA as ambassador, government officials and the former minister have quashed the reports.

Currently, Botswana's ambassador to the US is Lapologang Caesar Lekoa, who has been in the post since 2002.Government spokesperson Dr Jeff Ramsay said he was not aware of the impending move by Seretse to the US. Ramsay was concerned with the effect of such reports because they have the potential to affect diplomatic relations of the countries involved. The public relations officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Bihela Sekere said he was not aware of any new appointment in foreign missions.
