LOBATSE: Construction of the eagerly anticipated Samora Machel Museum in Lobatse has finally taken off, three years after the Mozambican government initially pledged P1 million to kickstart the project.

The initiative stems from a pledge made in 2015 by Mozambican officials who expressed a desire to transform the home of the Kgaboesele family in Lobatse into a museum.

The family and their home, accommodated Mozambique’s late leader and African icon, Samora Machel, during his exile in the fight to liberate the east African country.
