Revolution At Ntlo Ya Dikgosi

The 22 regions given the chance to elect their regional representatives at Ntlo Ya Dikgosi, staged a dramatic revolution over the weekend when 14 regional representatives bit the dust in the elections.

The five-year term for the inaugural regional representatives ended over the weekend, culminating in the elections which see only village  chiefs coming together to  decide via secret ballot who represents their regions in the new look Ntlo Ya Dikgosi, formerly known as House of Chiefs.

Ntlo Ya Dikgosi's tribal representation was improved slightly five years ago following former president Festus Mogae's effort to move away from the tradition where only eight major tribes were represented.
