Phakalane residents complain of poor service

Phakalane ward in Gaborone is not fully benefiting from the Ipelegeng Programme despite the high rates to the city council paid by residents, the ward councilor for Phakalane Eunice Mguni has said.

Speaking to Mmegi this week, Mguni said that there is no ward committee in Phakalane, hence everything is supervised from the Sebele ward development committee, which is in a different constituency. She stated that the grass is too long in the neighbourhood, something residents are not happy about.

"The problem is that we can't source labour in Phakalane and we have a problem with them giving us one or two people from other wards, most of these workers are not forthcoming because of the low wages," she said adding that it would be best if government could look into buying mowing machines for the ward.
