Over 23 arrested in police blitz

At least 23 suspects were arrested by the police for various offences in special operations conducted in and around Gaborone last week.

The suspects were arrested for, among others, possession of suspected stolen property, house break-ins and possession of forged cheques.

During the operations the police managed to recover five laptops, clothing, decoders, cellphone and other household goods. Some of the property seized were linked to some unresolved cases reported at some police stations in Gaborone. In one of the incidents, four men aged between 24 and 31 years were found in possession of two laptops they could not account for. The quartet, a South African and three Batswana, were also linked to cases of forged cheques, theft common and unlawful use of motor vehicles. In another incident, a 47-year-old woman was arrested at Maruapula location in Gaborone for possession of suspected stolen laptop.
