Operation damages patient's brain

FRANCISTOWN: Nearly five years later, the mother of a woman who was admitted to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) to deliver a new baby by caesarian operation has been told that her daughter will never recover.

"I felt a chill down my spine when the hospital superintendent, Dr Japhta Masunge, informed me yesterday that there is no hope for recovery," said Mary Sevela about her ailing daughter, Gontlafetse, who has been bedridden since December 4, 2002. 

On that day, Gontlafetse and her mother left Tonota for Francistown by bus. They were in a happy mood, even having a light-hearted banter about the sex of the child and grandchild they were looking forward to.
