"No elections for land boards," Molefhi announces

The government is going to do away with the system of voting for land board members, the Minister of Lands and Housing, Nonofo Molefhi, announced at a kgotla meeting in Molepolole yesterday.

In the past, land board members were elected by members of the community at the kgotla.  The government believes that the current arrangement is fraught with irregularities. 

Molefhi said that the government is going to advertise for land board positions. With the new arrangement, the chairman of the land board and their deputies will be appointed by the minister, the Molepolole meeting was told.
