Gaborone Mayor Haskins Nkaigwa has told the council that it is disturbing to have nightclubs operating in the centre of the city. He called on the government to assists investors with land to develop nightclubs on the outskirts of the city.

He said that the council should expedite the process of outsourcing some of the recreational parks to the private sector for promotion of recreation in the city. The mayor said that the council challenges the government to provide spaces for establishment of nightclubs outside Gaborone. He said that there is also a need for the establishment of a national theatre in Gaborone to give residents more options for recreation.
