Mother dies, son survives in hit-and-run

A 39-year-old mother died after she and her seven-year-old son were hit by a speeding car upon alighting a car at a bus stop.

The hit-and-run incident occurred on Saturday night at Thabala village.No2 District officer commanding, Senior Superintendent Paul Oketsang said the speeding Toyota March driver failed to stop following the accident and investigations are ongoing to locate him/her.

Oketsang said the deceased who had sustained multiple body injuries was rushed to Sekgoma Memorial Hospital in Serowe where she was certified dead on arrival. “Luckily, police managed to retrieve the vehicle’s registration disc and located the owner of the vehicle. He told the police that he had lent his neighbour’s son the car and the police are still looking for him.
