Morope leadership decries lack of consultation

MOROPE: Residents of Morope village, located a few metres west of the buffer zone of the Sir Seretse Khama Barracks and the junction leading to Mmopane, braved the chilly morning breeze of Friday to gather at the village main Kgotla, to get feedback on the lack of consultation by the Mogoditshane Sub-Land Board and Kweneng Land Board despite frozen allocations.

Presenting a report during the meeting, a fuming interim village development committee  (VDC) Chairperson Edward Kwape told the residents that the several trips and attempts to express their grievances to President Khama Ian Khama have been fruitless while officials, including Deputy Senior Private Secretary to the President Sipho Madisa, had shunned them.

Efforts by The Monitor to reach Madisa drew a blank, as he was not in the office at the time of going to press. However, Kwape told residents that while visiting the Office of the President (OP) they were sent from pillar to post and repeatedly interrogated on the purpose of their visit. And just when they thought they would eventually get an opportunity to see the President, Madisa allegedly fired at them: "Gale tsoge fela ebe lere le batla go bona Tautona" (you don't just wake up and say you want to see the President).
