Mmopane rally revises BDP factions

FRANCISTOWN: A fierce war of words has erupted in Mmopane village among the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) faithfuls ahead of the weekend council by-election.

The issue has rekindled memories of bitter factionalism that divided the party between the Nkate-Merafhe and Kedikilwe-Kwelagobe groupings.
Some read that the exclusion of Motswaledi by the BDP secretariat shows that the secretariat favours the dominant Nkate-Merafhe faction at the expense of the Kedikilwe-Kwelagobe side.

 
Information reaching Mmegi indicates that prior to last Saturday's rally, the BDP activists in the area had listed Motswaledi to speak alongside Khama. The programme went to the BDP headquarters where changes excluded Motswaledi.
