FRANCISTOWN: A 32-year-old woman of Lesoma village was on Monday allegedly sexually assaulted when her ex-boyfriend forced himself on her, rousing her from a deep sleep.

Kazungula Police Station Commander, Superintendent Phetogo Phillimon confirmed that they are investigating an incident of rape that took place at Botebele ward in Lesoma village.

He said that no arrests have been made as the suspect is still on the run. Phillimon indicated that the victim reported that on the fateful day, she woke up from a deep sleep only to find her ex-boyfriend having sexual intercourse with her without her consent. The victim alleged that at the time she was not in a relationship with the father of her seven-month-old daughter.

The Kazungula police chief also disclosed that the victim reported that on Sunday before the incident she had met with him to get the baby formula at a local shebeen and went back home.

Phillimon stated that the victim claimed that when she got home she made sure her house was secured before going to bed. It was early in the morning she reportedly woke up to find her ex-boyfriend on top of her performing a sex act on her. Phillimon said that the suspect then fled the area. Investigations continue.
