Makgophe at Interpol meet on global security

BEIJING: Botswana Police Commissioner Keabetswe Makgophe is amongst thousands of international attendees at the 86th Interpol General Assembly in Beijing, China as the global police body meets to discuss issues and threats to global security.

Makgophe, together with his team will be paying close attention to issues of cyber security that China’s President Xi Jinping pinpointed as the biggest emerging threat to peace and world security with the country having been looking into ways to fight and curb cyber attacks that seems to be rising, especially amongst Internet and social media users.

The issue of cyber security in Botswana has of late been cropping up with speculation that the government is thinking of regulating the use of Internet and social media in the wake cyber security and cyber abuse threats.
