LSB hosts the 18th SADC conference, AGM

The Law Society of Botswana (LSB) in conjunction with Southern African Development Community Lawyers Association (SADC-LA) will host a Thought Leadership Conference and SADC-LA’s 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on August 9-11, 2017, in Gaborone).

The Theme of the event is, ‘A skilled and competent legal profession: A catalyst for a prosperous SADC’. There will be a series of panel discussions during the two-day event, which is set to attract eminent persons, legal practitioners and other stakeholders from Botswana, the SADC region and internationally. Day one of the event will focus on thought provoking and relevant issues not only to the SADC region but globally.

The day will start with a panel discussion on, The Legal Profession- A leading voice in the defence of the rule of law: A look at recent regional challenges and opportunities. The topic will set the tone for the day and the conference as the Rule of Law underpins every aspect of good governance and development. The role of lawyers in fighting corruption and illicit financial flows (IFF) will also be explored.
