Kweneng cuts orphan care bill to save costs

The Kweneng District Council has made changes to its current social welfare programmes' values in order to cut costs.

These adjustments will be effective from the beginning of next month. The chairman of the council, Motlhophi Leo, says money for community home-based care will be reduced from P950 to P600, saving P300 per person per month. 

For orphan care, the package will be P500 from P850, saving P350 per orphan. Money for the destitution programme will be reduced from P640 to P450, saving P190 per destitute per month.
