In a rare development, President Ian Khama attended Parliament to witness the swearing-in of the new Letlhakeng West Member of Parliament, Ngaka Ngaka, yesterday.

True to one unaccustomed to the National Assembly, the self-styled democrat stayed no longer than the 20 minutes of the ceremony. President Khama rarely attends parliamentary sessions and has attracted criticism that he does not take them seriously. Even during his 10-year tenure as MP for Serowe North West, he was notable for his truancy.
