Italy Setlaampoloka died in police custody nearly four years ago.Since burying their son,the Setlaampoloka family have been anxious to find closure on this terrible chapter in their lives but justice has thus far proved elusive.

Shocking details of how a man who allegedly witnessed Italy Setlaampoloka tortured to death at Mogoditshane Police Station and himself escaped death by a whisker because he had seen too much have emerged in sworn statements passed on to Mmegi this week.It is now almost four years without progress in the case in which Setlaampoloka - who was aged 29 years then - died after allegedly being tortured at Mogoditshane Police Station in July 2009.  While the family and the suspects await more news, Mmegi can reveal that the case is stuck somewhere between the High Court and Broadhurst Magistrates Court. The case document lies - or got lost - somewhere in that indeterminate groove, but the Court and the Department of Public Prosecutions DPP and High Court have generated contradictory statements about its exact whereabouts.
