Details of how the Mascom tower that was erected near the residence of Bakgatla sovereign Kgosi Kgafela Kgafela II in Mochudi was allegedly vandalised by members of the royal family were revealed in court yesterday.

The star witness of the prosecution, Sergeant Anastasia Mogale of Mochudi Police Station, alleged how, at a meeting at the Mochudi Kgotla on October 3, 2009, some members of the royal family decided to destroy the tower if other interventions failed.

Mogale, who is attached to the prosecution division of the Botswana Police Service (BPS), said she was present and took notes at the meeting where a delegation was tasked with engaging authorities regarding the unhappiness of Bakgatla with the tower.
