Fugitive escapes in Italy

A South African fugitive who was to be extradited to Botswana to answer for stealing P20 million from his former employer, BelaBela Quarries has escaped from Police custody at an airport in Italy.

The fugitive is alleged to have stolen the money while employed as a Managing Director at BelaBela at Mamashia, and only resurfaced recently in Italy.

Sources close to the development said the fugitive fled from the Italian police before he could be handed to the Botswana Police officers who went to accompany him on his extradition.
