Festive road fatalities in slight decline

Police recorded a marginal decline in the number of fatalities on the country’s roads with 28 people losing their lives over the festive season, compared to 37 in 2014/15.

However, in a statement, acting public relations officer, Dipheko Motube explained that overall 2015 was a deadlier year on the roads with 408 people dying from 327 fatal road accidents, compared to 377 from 288 accidents in 2014.

“In one of the accidents which happened on New Years’ Day near Moshupa, a 63 year old man died after two vehicles collided head-on. Three passengers who were in one of the vehicles, the driver of the other vehicle and a passenger, are admitted at Thamaga primary hospital,” he said.
