SERULE: The sleepy village of Serule was on Wednesday night woken to the gruesome murder of a 15-year-old girl and her 69-year-old grandmother in full view of the girl’s mother.

Narrating the horrible ordeal, the deceased girl’s mother Omphile Tautona, 33, said the suspect, who is still at large has been known to be the girl’s boyfriend and attempts had been made to separate them but in vain. She said it was evident that the man, age unknown, has been abusing the girl. He would take her to Selebi-Phikwe for many days and sometimes even went with her to his home in Tumasera where he would beat her up and threaten to kill and throw her body inside a well.

She said on the fateful day, the man had come earlier and asked to see her daughter, but she and her mother (the deceased old woman) told him that they did not want him in their home and that he should bring his parents so that the relationship issue could be resolved.
