After Botswana President Ian Khama announced that he would meet with the Dalai Lama during his visit to the country next month, China is cautioning him to make a correct decision on this issue.

This is according to the Chinese Embassy in Gaborone’s press release in which the Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang pronounced Beijing’s position. “China’s stance is clear. We hope relevant country can see clear the nature of Dalai, faithfully respect China’s core concern and make correct decision on the relevant issue,” Geng said.

He was asked about China’s response to Dalai Lama’s visit to Gaborone and his scheduled meeting with Khama. Geng was also asked how the visit would affect China’s investments in Botswana.
