The High Court in Gaborone has remanded a case in which 17 people are challenging the allocation of 285 plots in Tlokweng through a raffle. Justice Michael Mothobi ordered the case back to the land tribunal on Friday when dismissing an appeal by Tlokweng Landboard. The judge threw out the appeal saying that it had no grounds but ordered the land tribunal to hear the case afresh.

The appeal was filed by the landboard after 17 people successfully sought the intervention of the tribunal in the allocation of plots in Tlokweng through a controversial raffle. The tribunal ruled in favour of the applicants, ordering the landboard to give them audience and re-consider the allocation.

On Friday, Mothobi remanded the case saying that the land tribunal had powers to preside over it again.
