FRANCISTOWN: A 35-year-old law enforcement officer based at the Mabesekwa Police Post was arraigned before Magistrate Game Mooketsi last Tuesday for allegedly raping his ex-girlfriend.

The state alleges that Tebogo Baalotswe raped his former girlfriend on March 5 in Mabesekwa village. When Baalotswe was arraigned in court, prosecutor inspector Kenneth Edward said the State was not opposed to the accused being granted bail because investigations in the matter are almost complete. Edward added that some DNA samples have been taken to the forensic laboratory for analysis. Edward then proposed that Baalotswe bind himself with P1,000 and bring two sureties who shall do the same, also that he shall not interfere with witnesses, not commit any offence whilst on bail, and report at the Mabesekwa Police Post while he attends court as and when required to do so. Mooketsi acceded to the bail conditions that were proposed by the State. Baalotswe is due back in court on April 5.
