Constitutional crisis looms in Zambia

LUSAKA - The final draft of Zambias new constitution is ready and was submitted for cabinet scrutiny August 30 - a day before the National Constitutional Conference (NCC), the body that drew it up , ceased to exist by law.

It was one deadline met  in a number that must be met to pave way for the 2011 general  elections when President Rupiah Banda will be seeking his first five-year term.

The deadline may have been met but a constitutional crisis is looming because consensus remains elusive. 
There is still a great deal of uncertainty  and suspicions over the enactment process.
