Botswana Congress Party's only MP, Dumelang Saleshando has challenged the vice president, Lt. Gen. Ian Khama to come and stand for elections at Gaborone Central.

Saleshando said that he was not worried about the BDP's vow to grab Gaborone Central to eliminate the BCP. Reports abound that the BDP was considering sending in Gaborone region chairman, Gomolemo Motswaledi and University of Botswana academic, Dr Raphael Dingalo to wrestle the constituency from Saleshando. Saleshando says that the BDP candidate was the least of his worries.

Saleshando said that he did not want a paper candidate at his constituency. "I want Ian Khama or any of his brothers," he declared.
