Bolux axes 122 workers citing SA dumping

The countrys oldest and largest miller, Bolux Group, will cut 122 workers from its 520-strong workforce this month under pressure from major South African (SA) producers who continue to flood the local market with cheaper goods.

The Ramotswa-based company produces brands such as A1 Super Maize Meal, Snow White Flour, Pasta King and Maxi Bread, exporting to Zambia and Zimbabwe. Bolux is one of the largest suppliers of animal feed into the beef sector supplying major feedlots, the Botswana Meat Commission and Agriculture ministry.

Yesterday, Bolux group head corporate affairs, Nkosi Mwaba told Mmegi the miller had been left with no other choice than to downsize.
