The Botswana Federation of Public Sector Unions (BOFEPUSU) and Botswana government negotiating parties will meet before an independent mediator today.

The BOFEPUSU secretary general Tobokani Rari has disclosed that the office of the Commissioner of Labour has informed them that the federation representatives and the employer party will meet for 2013/14 salary negotiations mediation at 9am today. “We are ready for mediation and our story has always been the same,” said Rari.

Last Friday BOFEPUSU lodged a dispute before the Commissioner of Labour after the employer declared a deadlock on the 2013/2014 public service salary negotiations.
In a joint press statement last week the two parties stated that the Public Service Bargaining Council (PSBC) met on February 25 and March 5, 2014 to continue with the 2013/2014 public service salary negotiations following a 10-day cooling off period.
