BMWU Congress Postponed

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The triennial delegates' congress of the Botswana Mine Workers' Union, part of whose business is election of the national executive has been postponed indefinitely, according to sources.

The term of the current leadership of Chimbidzani Chimidza, Jack Tlhagale, Golekanye Mogende and Lentsifetse Masilo expires this month.

Tlhagale, the General Secretary, confirmed that the congress would not go on as there are 'other things that need to be done before the congress can be convened'. Tlhagale did not reveal what the 'other things' were but said they are 'internal issues and the matter is not for public consumption at the present time'.
