A fuming Kabo Morwaeng of BMD said he learnt with shock that their idea, which was pitched at the party's leadership seminar in Palapye early this month, had been hijacked by the BDP.
Speaking to The Monitor on Friday, Morwaeng said they were in the process of communicating to their structures the concept of having members and BMD supporters dress up in party colours when suddenly "we saw the BDP in Mmegi claiming to have decided to don red colours every last weekend of the month. They simply copied and ran to the media with our good idea". Interim BMD deputy chairman, Botsalo Ntuane supported his party colleague saying he has in his possession a copy of the recommendations made in Palapye. He has forwarded the copy to The Monitor. "Every Friday is declared Orange Day whereby all party members must wear orange attire to increase visibility and attract more members to the ranks of the movement," says part of the recommendations. But BDP spokesman Dr Comma Serema has responded that the idea of dressing as a political marketing strategy is theirs and was mooted at the BDP retreat last month. "Their (BMD) leadership seminar came long after our retreat so they are the ones who copied from us," he said.
