Beef producers concern over elephant population

Increase in elephant population a matter of serious concern to the farmers The Botswana National Beef Producers Union (BNBPU) would like to add its voice to the demand for serious remedial action to be taken to address the phenomena of increase of elephant population in this country.

As a cattle producers’ apex body, the BNBPU is equally concerned by the ever-growing population numbers even in areas that were not previously inhabited by elephants.

While we do appreciate that tourism is an important foreign exchange earner and a significant contributor to the national GDP, it must also be acknowledged that other industries such as agriculture are equally important and do have an important benefit to the overall economy of the country.
