At least two graduates from Botswana were part of the top three winning teams in the recently concluded Barclay’s Pan Africa programme that attracted 200 graduates and was hosted by Botswana.

Barclay’s Bank Botswana employee, Salma Baduel was part of the team that scooped first prize during the business strategy team competitions that were staged as part of the Pan Africa graduate training hosted in Gaborone for two weeks.

Baduel’s team, E-Point,  was voted the best of the 28 teams after they impressed the judges with their presentation on an envisaged electronic banking product they said would revolutionise point of sale in Africa, allowing users to pay using mobile phones where they cannot produce a card or where there is no connection to complete transaction. Baduel’s team said with 300 million mobile phones users in Africa, the E-point could be a revenue spinner for Barclays.
