Scores of Bakgatla are against the change of uniform by the Botswana Police Service (BPS) and are lamenting its poor quality.

Bakgatla made these revelations during a Kgotla meeting addressed by Kgatleng District Council (KDC) chairperson, Tona Mooketsi.  In Mathubudukwane village, a staunch Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) supporter Naomi Lekgabe, a sister-in-law to former BDP councillors Mpolokeng Pilane and Motlotle Pilane of Sikwane and Mathubudukwane respectively, said government officials are spending huge sums of money sleeping out in hotels while the police wear uniforms of poor quality material.

Lekgabe said the money spent on night out in hotels could be used to buy quality material to make the uniform. Some Bakgatla say they suspect that "the tendering companies bring quality material at the time of tendering, then use fake material to make the uniform".
